Building Infrastructure for Biology
CCA develops lab infrastructure that links protocol execution with measurement and context at acquisition time. Our goal is to make biological experiments easier to reproduce, compare, and scale.
Make biological data reliable by default
Many instruments still export partial data after the run, leaving key context in notebooks or spreadsheets. We believe instrumentation should capture structured, timestamped data during execution, not after the fact.
Our focus is infrastructure that keeps protocol state, sample identity, and measurements in one record so teams can review outcomes with less manual reconstruction.
Why We Started CCA
CCA was founded to address a practical gap: experimental methods in biology have advanced quickly, while data infrastructure in many labs has not kept pace.
Environmental conditions are often under-recorded, sample provenance is difficult to audit, and run context is distributed across multiple systems. This makes troubleshooting and reproducibility harder than it should be.
We are building instrument-software systems that keep run context connected by default, so teams can spend less time on data plumbing and more time on biology.
Our Principles
Design instruments and software together
Own hardware, firmware, and software together. Integration matters more than individual components.
Design for data first
Instruments should produce structured, timestamped, context-rich data by default, not as an export feature.
Start with real problems
Build what labs actually need, not what looks impressive in demos. Listen to users, iterate quickly.
Make complexity disappear
Good infrastructure should be invisible. Researchers should focus on biology, not data plumbing.
